ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It?s been said that for every $100 spent in locally-owned, independent stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other means (according to the 3/50 Project).

More than?80% of the businesses in the city of St. Louis are considered small businesses.

Jessi Cerutti?brought a number of them together for a Rock-N-Roll Craft Show, Saturday, at the 3rd Degree Glass Factory on Delmar, ?You don?t realize almost everyone you know might work for a small business or be involved somehow. Or you may not know your neighbor might be crafting things in their closet.?

Business was brisk on Saturday, as Mayor Francis Slay and others helped the locals celebrate Small Business Saturday, ?It?s a packed house. There?s a lot of unique, locally-made items people can enjoy. We?ve got people supporting small business, and that?s what this is all about.?

Slay says St. Louis recently was named by Kiplinger as one of the ten best U.S. cities for starting a small business.
